REMEMBER WHAT IT WAS LIKE
James Clear, author and motivational speaker wrote,
“The longer you’re a teacher, the less you remember what it is like to be a student.
The longer you’re a doctor, the less you remember what it is like to be a patient.
The longer you’re a coach, the less you remember what it is like to be a player.
Change positions. A new perspective can improve your old methods.”
I read this and immediately thought:
The longer you are a Christian, the less you remember what it is like to be a non-Christian or an unbeliever.
This in some ways is useful and appropriate not to remember but it also makes it very difficult to relate to those we wish would become believers. We must remember where we came from to help others to know where we are going.
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’” Jesus
