RELIGION IN A BOX
I once read about this frustration:
‘It is like trying to pack something into a box that is too small…’
That is like trying to pack faith into a religion, a creed, a denomination, a pastor, preacher or priest, a movement, or a church that is too small. It takes the Kingdom of God to be big enough for our ever-developing faith and function. We perhaps live out many things in one of these smaller boxes but we must know that they do not hold the entire contents.
Religion in a box is very much like trying to put God in a box…if not the same box. Our faith is as big as our box. We may try to stuff it full but it will not all fit in the box we have chosen. It is not supposed too. Anything not bigger than we are is too small.
“How can I describe the Kingdom of God? What story should I use to illustrate it? It is like a mustard seed planted in the ground. It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of all garden plants; it grows long branches, and birds can make nests in its shade.” Jesus
