REAL FREEDOM
Nikos Kazantzakis (1883-1957) author and poet who wrote ‘Zorba the Greek’ and many other books wrote:
“I want nothing. I fear nothing. I am free.”
As I compared this with lines from Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, it seemed to match pretty well:
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (Matthew 6:31-33)
Though I know the promises… I still have feelings of need, sense of fear and burdened at times. However I still claim it and believe, “I want nothing. I fear nothing. I am free.” Father already knows our needs.
“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring it’s own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Jesus
