QUIET INFORMATION

It has been an understanding of mine that the Lord speaks to us in many ways. One of those ways is ‘in the night.’ I often don’t know if I am awake or asleep when I get up next morning and sense I have ‘heard something’ from the Lord. Job wrote, “In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, while slumbering on their beds, then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction.” (Job 33:15-16 NKJV)

While reading recently I came across this verse:
“I will bless the Lord who advises me; even at night I am instructed in the depths of my mind.” (Psalm 16:7 CSB) From the scriptures one can assume this is normal. What also seems just as normal is that it might be a dream, or a night vision or we just sense something ‘in the depths of our mind’ (Psalm 16:7).

Maybe something happens in sleep like Howard Thurman (1899-1981) minister and author wrote,
“I abandon all that I think I am, all that I hope to be, all that I believe I possess. I let go of the past, I withdraw my grasping hand from the future, and in the great silence of this moment, and I alertly rest my soul.”

We quietly get instruction while alertly resting the soul.
