PURITY AND LIGHT
“Living as salt in a decaying world and light in a dark world, believers should neither withdraw into seclusion from the world nor become indistinguishable from it. Rather, we are to do good to the city, for all the glory and honor of the nations is to be offered up to the living God.” (From the ‘Doctrinal Statement’ of a church in Nashville, TN)
This to me is a very well expressed statement. Being salt to a decaying world and light to a dark world is a full-time job for any person. Maybe the most important statement is: “believers should neither withdraw into seclusion from the world nor become indistinguishable from it.” This is our calling. To do good without falling into the tank.
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by people. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.” Jesus
