PRIEST AND SACRIFICE
Through the ages various religions have had priests of one kind or another and have had sacrifices of one kind or another, but only Jesus was both High Priest and High Sacrifice.
“Therefore, holy brothers you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession.” (Hebrews 3:1)
“He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself.” (Hebrews 7:27)
“For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.” (Hebrews 9:13-14)
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” Jesus
