PRICE OF PROGRESS
“If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.” Frederick Douglass 1818-1895
This principle is certainly true of the spiritual struggle. As Douglas said, “Power concedes nothing without a demand” and the enemy of the Kingdom way, the Christ life, the Father’s government is no exception. If we do not expect a fight and struggle with the powers of evil it is only because we are naïve. We must defeat ‘the strongman’ with a Stronger Man.
“But no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. Then indeed he may plunder his house.” Jesus
