PREVIOUS SOURCES
“We live in cities we did not build
And in houses full of good things we did not fill
We warm ourselves by fires we did not light
From bundles of wood we did not gather
We sit in the shade of trees we did not plant
We have wine from vineyards we did not plant.
We drink from wells we did not dig”
(These lines are paraphrases from Deuteronomy 6:10-12)
Some of us are so very blessed and privileged to have come from families that left us rich spiritual inheritance. We have much of what we have from Previous Sources. Both Roz and I had Christian believing and intentional living godly parents as part of our Previous Resources. They also gave every physical necessity needed and it was lived out in loving, caring homes. When it was time to leave those homes, we were released with our inheritance to go our own way. We have no bad childhood memories.
What Roz and I have planted, watered and raised was from seeds and systems we already knew. Of course, everyone tweaks stuff to their own liking. But we mostly built on Previous Sources and have found them to be a good way to live. Our job has been to pass along these Precious Sources and Resources to our children and others.
“Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” Jesus
