PREPARED FOR HERE OR THERE
We do not live for future life but in eternal life. That is the principle that should be our guiding light. If the ending point of earth life as we know it is about spent, then we simply live on in the eternal life we have begun when we received and accepted the invitation and demands of Jesus and His kingdom. Our hope is in Christ and not the timing and events of a Second Coming. Whenever he comes, it is his presence in the new age that we should desire and the process that took us there.
We should always be prepared, “always be ready to make a defense to every one who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you.” The Book of Hebrews says, “This hope we have is as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, where Jesus entered as a forerunner for us.” Our hope rests on the finished work of the cross and not just on how, or when, he may make a re-appearance back to earth. I can’t think of a faster way to perhaps miss him altogether than by being overly concerned about his return. We must fully grasp the first coming to have a chance of grasping the second.
“Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” Jesus
