POWER FROM ON HIGH
When Jesus said, “Go wait in Jerusalem until you receive the promise of the Father” (The Holy Spirit), he was setting choices and order for the activities of the Book of Acts. Don’t go anywhere until this has happened was his advice.
When Jesus said this He made it clear, “but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” In the beginning of the Acts of the Apostles when Jesus appears, the text says, “Gathering them together, he commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised.”
And then he said, “John baptized with water but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” And further, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you,” and finally you get “to go into all the world, you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria and remotest parts of the earth.”
Seems to me this is still the way it is supposed to be or we operate with “power from on low,” instead of “on high.”
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.” Jesus
