POLITICS AND RELIGION #1
There is perhaps no greater ticking timed bomb than the mixture of politics and religion. Following Christ is not a political or cultural decision…it is a Kingdom decision. When Christians decide to choose a political party (i.e., Republican or Democrat, Independent, Green, Yellow, Black or White, they are precious… no, that’s a different deal) and then if others are not of said party… then they are ‘liberal’ or otherwise ‘conservative.’ No one really believes this anymore do they? Yes, they/we do. This describes the mentality and behavior of various terrorist, socialist and communist regimes around the globe as well as some of us.
If we assume because we voted Republican and watch Fox News and are opposed to homosexuals and abortion and same sex marriage …that we also have pretty much fulfilled the Sermon on the Mount, the Teachings, The Miracles and the Parables of Jesus and the Letters of Paul and Peter. These are important issues to make personal decisions and assumptions about, but the mixture of politics and religion is historically death to all who have tried it. It dramatically started with Constantine (300 AD) and has not ceased since. In fact, this country (USA) was established by those fleeing the mixture of religion and politics in Europe and beyond.
“My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from this world.” Jesus
