PLAYGROUNDS
I have a friend from many years back who attended the same church we did. She attended but her husband didn’t. She was a serious and committed person and was faithful, helpful and a seeker of the Lord. She operated a day-care at her home for small children for many years. She raised an organic garden and baked wonderful bread…among other things. She loved children.
The church we attended was a beginning group and had basic facilities… and no playgrounds for children. Having developed a wonderful playground for her own day-care, she stepped up to build one for the church group. Giving generously of her own money and raising more from others she developed and built a great playground for children with all kinds of fun things to play on.
If that were the end of the story… that would be cool, but there is much more. Her story got around the area and other groups sought her wisdom and expertise for building playgrounds. She had a passion for playgrounds for children. I know personally of at least several churches, civic groups and private schools that she was responsible for developing wonderful playgrounds as the years went by… investing much of her money, time and know-how. Lots of happy, screaming, swinging, sliding little kids over many years owe her a big hug.
The Kingdom comes in playgrounds. I would mention her name…but that’s not her way.
“Let the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Jesus
