PBJ PROJECT
I have a friend who works as a manager at a local business and is a very busy person. I was recently visiting with her and in our discussion the homeless issue in our community came up for conversation. Our city is just over two hundred thousand and there is a major problem with homeless people (like in many other cities). We have various agencies and missions that focus on dealing with housing, food, clothing and medical care. There always seems need for more.
As we talked about this she told me what she and her husband and grandchildren do for the homeless. On weekends they go up and down the alleys in various parts of the city and hand out some clothing but mostly it is PBJ… Peanut Butter and Jelly and Bread to make sandwiches. She said they have been received gladly by nearly everyone they meet in the homeless community because of their PBJ Project.
This seems like a pretty simple and significant thing just about anyone could do. Besides that… PBJ Sandwiches are one of my very favorite things to eat and so I can see why others would want it as well.
“Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’” And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’” Jesus
