OTHER VOICES
We enter prayer with primarily our own voice and our own needs but in the silent search we hear the voices of mankind crying out. We listen and hear “other voices” and it does, and should, change us. It is overwhelming because none of us feels capable of having right answers and adequate solutions. We become weakened and frustrated with our degree of information and intelligence concerning world issues. We begin to tell ourselves that we wish we didn’t know what little we do know and wish we were idle and ignorant to the needs of others. We sink down into ourselves and ask for wisdom to just take care “of my own issues” and “let someone else” deal with the larger issues. But the longer we pray, the more we know the answer.
God has chosen to remind us that we are the chosen ones for bringing change and hope. We too abandon our daily world through prayer only in order to listen intently to the ‘other voices.’
“Yes, ask anything in my name, and I will do it!” Jesus
