ON BEING TOGETHER

Over the years many things have changed in the way I approach being together with the Lord. To be with the Lord… to be present… without any ‘work,’ any reason, any agenda…just for the sake of being together… this to me is prayer…meditation…love and relationship.

I know for years I had strict habits of time and place for reading, prayer and time alone. Nothing wrong with this approach and it does produce good results. But I have found that to be an erroneous notion that limits the Lord to a specific location. Much like thinking God is at the church building.

Now with a looser grip on time and place, I notice the presence of the Lord more at all times. Without any reason, we communicate and allow our love to be the reason for being together… and the only reason. All other prayer, thoughts, meditation and such proceed from this point.

“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.  Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” Jesus
