NO SCREEN DAY
Thought… December 2017. We need to have a NO SCREEN DAY.
This seemed like a simple thought at first but then I got to thinking about the practical dimensions of this word.
If we were to ‘fast’ from our screens it would be a major shakeup for some of us. Here is what I heard: “Take away all screens for 24 hours.” Is this even possible? Take away our cell phones, computer screens, television screens, to start with… but then we have screens in most of our vehicles, on many appliances, etc. etc.
This level of silence and solitude is no simple matter anymore. It would require very intentional planning to stay away from all the screens that take up our time and life for 24 hours. The reason for doing so would be to completely be with the Lord in private prayer and meditation…listening for the voice, expecting the Presence, and hearing new and vital things. Maybe our technology has surpassed our ability for silence and solitude… I truly hope this is not the case and I also truly hope we would try this 24-hour experiment. We really need to hear from the Lord in this hour.
