MORE PRECIOUS THAN GOLD

The apostle Peter wrote, “In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

To believe in the Lord is indeed a precious thing. Our faith will be tested to determine if it is genuine. The apostle continues that our faith will be tested more than gold that is being purified by fire. He comforts us by saying that out faith is more precious than gold. This is very encouraging until our test is for more faith or more gold. We have to reconcile within that our faith is more precious than our gold.

Even though tested by fire…may we stay in “praise and glory and honor” until the final “revelation of Jesus Christ.”
