MORE FAITH III
It is difficult to separate out the functions of gaining more faith. Such as prayer, study of the Bible, fasting, meditation, giving, or silence…because they are all connected at some point. And the point of focus is our purpose: to know the Father greater by knowing the Son greater by allowing the Holy Spirit greater access into our lives.
Paul, an apostle, wrote: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17) “There are two ways ‘the word of God’ could be understood in this verse: “Christ does the speaking” or Christ is spoken about.”(New English Translators note)
Strong’s Dictionary comments Romans10:17: ‘that which is or has been uttered by the living voice, thing spoken, word…any sound produced by the voice and having definite meaning, speech, discourse, what one has said.’ Vine’s Dictionary: ‘that which is said, a word,” is rendered “saying” or “sayings.” It is obvious from the verses just before that a messenger to speak the word is mentioned (10:14-15), however the word used here is one that also means Father/Jesus/Holy Spirit could speak the clear word with a clear voice that we may hear as well. It is just normal prayer, listening and hearing.
Either way it should have the results it had here: “For this reason we thank God without ceasing because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you received it not as the word of men, but as it truly is, the word of God, which effectively works also in you who believe.” (1 Thessalonians 2:13)
“He who is of God hears God’s words.” Jesus
