MATCHING COLORS
‘Pantone is a global authority on color, famous for its standardized color matching system (PMS), trend forecasting (like the Color of the Year), and color consulting, providing a universal language for designers, printers, and manufacturers to ensure precise color communication across industries like fashion, graphics, and products.’ (Wikipedia)
‘Pantone’s highly anticipated Color of the Year for 2026 is “Cloud Dancer,” which most people outside the Pantone headquarters would just call “white.” That got us thinking about ways to creatively rename other colors:
“Forgotten Houseplant” (brown)
“Cheeto Fingers” (orange)
“Wet Jeans” (navy)
“Air Fryer Detritus” (black)
But we wouldn’t dare rename periwinkle. It’s perfect the way it is.’ (Morning Brew)
I’m headed over to the other side of the Pond to have some Cuban Coffee and Snickerdoodle Cookies and think about the new Cloud Dancer color as Color of the Year. It’s about exactly the same color as a piece of copy paper for my printer. So I will be loading the printer with Cloud Dancer paper. I much more clearly understand the Cheeto Fingers Orange color.
