MANY FISH
In Ezekiel 47:9 there is the distinction of creation being re-born by the effects of the river and then the picture of fish. “There will be very many fish” (v.9), “or these waters go there” and this is the revealing of all peoples, not just a select and special people, all will be touched by the flowing river. It will flow and spread and give life “to many fish.” This is verified by seeing “fisherman from Engedi to Enegliam” standing along the banks of the river “and there will be a place for the spreading of nets” (v.10).
This great flow of the river of life will be so abundant and have so much life in it that anyone standing along the bank can cast with some faith and net the hope of the river. “Their fish will be according to their kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea, very many” (v.10). There will be “every tribe and tongue and people and nation” and “a great multitude which no one could count” (Revelation 5:9; 7:9). It appears that ‘very many’ fish are all being touched, formed, and sustained by the same river. There is no longer a special single chosen fish, but ‘many fish’ like in the Great Sea, a whole world full of fish of every color, kind, shape and species, all finding life and healing in, and from, the same river.
“The kingdom of heaven is like a net that was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind. When it was full, men drew it ashore and sat down and sorted the good into containers but threw away the bad.” Jesus
