MAKING ACCOMMODATION
In the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ we read. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.” The word paradise is also used to describe the Garden of Eden. In Eden is the Tree of Life. It is paradise. It is the same paradise that Jesus promised the repentant robber on the cross: “Today you will be with me in paradise.”
We are also promised in the Revelation: “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” And a little later in the text, “Behold, I am making all things new.”
I have often wondered in all this ‘newness’ if the Holy City… the New Jerusalem is in the Garden of Eden … in the Paradise of God…. or perhaps the Garden of Eden is in the New Jerusalem? If so, then the Lord has made accommodation for city folks and country folks all in the same place… isn’t that just like our Heavenly Father?
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” Jesus
