LOW INTEREST
It seems there is a lot of low interest lately. I noticed it at the bank with checking, savings, CD’s and such but not on loans. I also am noticing low interest in same-o, same-o TV and other media. It is often watched and followed by habit more than interest. There is a lower interest in sports in some ways but more interest in fantasy sports and gaming sports. There is lower interest in relationships in person and more interest digitally where fantasy can dictate relationships. There is lower interest in church and discipleship with cop-out, half-baked statements like: ‘I am spiritual, but not religious.’ It is probably trying to justify that someone is nothing with low interest. I also see the lowest interest ever in politics. I believe this too is because it is fantasy and no one believes much about politics that are incapable of governing and finding consensus.
It seems to me when a culture is divided fifty-fifty that we are without identity except an identity of polarization. That too produces low interest and fantasy whether in church, politics, fashion, food, dog breeds, sports or listening quietly by a lake. We need to get a new grip on a good number of things. It would be expedient to do so while we still might be able.
Perhaps High Interest might overtake many areas of our lives once again.
“The thorny ground represents the hearts of people who listen to the Good News and receive it, but all too quickly the attractions of this world and the delights of wealth, and the search for success and lure of nice things come in and crowd out God’s message from their hearts, so that no crop is produced.” Jesus
