LOVING LIBERTY
No one has liberty unless we all have liberty. That is what makes a true democracy. It is the essence of the Body of Christ… the church. It is the foundation of the Kingdom of God. To assume that some should be free while others should not be… is a distortion of ethics and a complete misunderstanding of the common principles of justice… not to mention the centric message of the Gospel of Jesus.
William Hazlitt (1778-1830), English essayist, wrote, “The love of liberty is the love of others; the love of power is the love of ourselves.” If we truly love others we want others to be free. Maybe more striking than to love our self is to in fact love liberty.
The apostle Paul wrote to the Galatians, “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” Jesus
