LOVING GOD
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:36-40)
I am trying to figure out if the way I love God with my heart, soul, mind and strength is really what this scripture means. If I could really love God with all that there would be nothing left of me. (I think I just heard the Lord say, “Exactly, Amen”)
And the way I love God is the way I will love my neighbor and myself. (Did I hear another, “Exactly”?)
I’m headed over to my side of the Pond to have some Cuban Coffee and Quinoa and Molasses Granola and Cheddar Cheese Sticks and plan a Prayer and Fasting Retreat to try and hear the voice of the Lord better.
“The most important commandment is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” Jesus
