LIVING WITH SILENCE
Living with silence is something to be learned, not once but many times daily and forever. Silence is its own beauty and it removes, if only for a short time, all other beauties. The beauties of purpose, design, architecture, planning, fixing, are all put on hold for silence. This is because as we learn to live in silence we come to grips with the issue of there being no other audience involved but ourselves alone, and there are no other voices, no other platforms and no other outlets. There is only silence. There is one audience: the Lord.
Only the Spirit gifts of peace, satisfaction, contentment and respect can prepare us for such a stripping. At this very point many would trade in silence for a self-created second best that we can control and determine, avoiding the barrenness of living without noise. In choosing the better we allow silence to do its work.
“But when you pray, go away by yourself, all alone.” Jesus
