LIVING PRESENCE
Frederick Buechner writes, “The earliest reference to the Resurrection is Saint Paul’s, and he makes no mention of an empty tomb at all. But the fact of the matter is that in a way it hardly matters how the body of Jesus came to be missing because in the last analysis what convinced the people that he had risen from the dead was not the absence of his corpse but his living presence. And so it has been ever since.”
I think this is a very accurate statement. I have read and studied the dynamics of the resurrection, the apologists and atheists, the poets and the prophets… but none of them have given me reason to believe. It truly is the living presence of the Lord. With this in my life the scripture message of the bodily resurrection of the Lord is simple and easy reading: it says it… I believe it. The presence of the Lord is why I believe in the Lord.
“I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.” Jesus
