LIGHTING THE FIRE
Saul was a zealous Pharisee that was persecuting the early Christians. While traveling with companions and terrorizing the believers, both with injury and death, “suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him; and he fell to the ground and his eyes were blinded.” (Acts of the Apostles 9:3,4,8,9) After his conversation with the Lord, three days later, blind and without food, the Lord sends Ananias to him.
“Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” (Acts of the Apostles 9:17) The fire in Saul (soon to be Paul) was being ignited for the Kingdom way.
Cormac McCarthy (1933-2023) author wrote:
“You have to carry the fire.
I don’t know how to.
Yes, you do.
Is the fire real? The fire?
Yes, it is.
Where is it? I don’t know where it is.
Yes you do. It’s inside you. It always was there. I can see it.
(From: ‘The Road’)
The fire is there but the Holy Spirit must set it ablaze. We may need a person of faith like Ananias to lay hands on us, and ask the Lord to open our eyes and to fill us with the Holy Spirit. Send that person, Lord.
“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.’” Jesus
