LIFE IS MORE
Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers) (1928-2003) wrote, “When I say it’s you I like, I’m talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive: Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war, and justice that proves more powerful than greed.”
After reading Mr. Rogers quote I remembered this quote from Martin Luther King, Jr. when he wrote: “Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction.”
Life is ‘far more than anything we see or hear or touch.’ Mr. Rogers also said, “Nobody else can live the life you live. And even though no human being is perfect, we always have the chance to bring what’s unique about us to live in a redeeming way.”
“Love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus
