JUDGMENT DAY
Maybe Judgment Day has already happened in many ways:
John wrote:
“There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.” (3:19-20)
The way we know that Judgment has already happened is if anyone loves the darkness more than the light because the light would expose sins. That does not seem to me to be a long wait and worry ‘for someday in the sweet bye-and-bye.’ It is obvious and present every living moment. There is little to judge later if it has already been decided, or is being decided, today. Perhaps the most fearful observation is that we so easily no longer fear, care or have the slightest concern concerning darkness or light…or judgment. Have mercy, Lord.
“I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” Jesus
