JUDGE NOTHING BEFORE THE TIME
Paul, an apostle wrote, “For I know of nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but He who judges me is the Lord. Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God.” (1 Corinthians 4:4–5)
I keep hearing: ‘Judge nothing before the time.’ I am asking ‘what time?’ My answer appears to be: ‘Not the end time… but any time. Judge nothing, but always discern carefully.’ It is God’s own family that is being judged to help us be assessed, appraised and prepared as we journey on to take the message of the Kingdom to our world.
Peter, an apostle, wrote:
“For it is time for judgment to begin, starting with the house of God. And if it starts with us, what will be the fate of those who are disobedient to the gospel of God?” (1 Peter 4:17)
Judgment will begin with the ‘Household of faith.’ Peterson translates this: ‘It’s judgment time for God’s own family.’ (The Message Translation, Eugene Peterson)
“Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.” Jesus
