IT’S NOT TOO HARD
“This command I give you today is not too hard for you; it is not beyond what you can do.
It is not up in heaven.
You do not have to ask,
“Who will go up to heaven and get it for us so we can obey it and keep it?”
It is not on the other side of the sea.
You do not have to ask,
“Who will go across the sea and get it?
Who will tell it to us so we can keep it?”
No, the word is very near you.
It is in your mouth
and in your heart
so you may obey it.”
(Deuteronomy 30:11-14)
It is an old line to say, ‘We don’t understand the Bible, it’s just too hard to read and get anything out of it.’ Moses had to deal with this issue with the early Hebrew people in giving The Law. He said, “It’s not too hard for you, it’s not beyond what you can do.” It’s not ‘out there’ somewhere and unknowable.
“No, the word is very near you.
It is in your mouth
and in your heart
so you may obey it.”
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.“ Jesus
