IT CAN HAPPEN TODAY
Jesus was often confronted and challenged to give opinion on sensitive issues. One example was the Kingdom of God as in Luke 17 with this:
“Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” (17:20-21)
The Kingdom of God was an ever-present reality with Jesus and not something that would ‘happen someday when we all get to heaven.’ The Kingdom is now and not yet… it is here and will be there in our future state. It is within us now and will be with us later. If Jesus is present, the Kingdom is present. It can all happen today when we invite the King into our life… we also get his Kingdom. What a deal.
As Mark Twain (1835-1910) once wrote,
“Apparently there is nothing that cannot happen today!”
“Your Kingdom come, your will be done.
On earth as it is in heaven.” Jesus
