IN CONTROL
I am still considering some thoughts from yesterday’s Journal entry on Out of Control. The way to stop anything that is out of control is to correct it so that it is In Control.
On this issue of debt… both money and otherwise, is the wisdom to avoid this: BNPL… buy now, pay later. It is perhaps one of the biggest traps to destroy both innocence and common sense. It falls into the category of ‘out of sight, out of mind.’ Trouble is… we will still get the bill on the third of each month.
There are nine spiritual fruits mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23. “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” We can expect to receive God’s gift of self-control enabling us to have self-control. Only self-control is able to stop out of control. The most immature becomes more mature with self-control. If we cannot control and govern ourselves…we cannot control and govern anything else.
This may take some more Cuban Coffee and more Apricot Thumbprint Cookies over on the other side of the Pond… but we must control our debts. We must pay what we owe. It is how we become free.
“Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!” Jesus (Yikes!)
