IDENTIFYING RELIGION

How do we know when something or someone is simply religious and not particularly spiritual? Jesus said quoting Isaiah the prophet, “These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
Their worship is a farce,
for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.” (Mark 7:6-7)

So how else could we know? I think the great theological test is this: If it looks like religion, swims like religion, waddles like religion, and quacks like religion, then it probably is religion. 

“For you ignore God’s law and substitute your own tradition. You skillfully sidestep God’s law in order to hold on to your own tradition.” Jesus
