I BELIEVE IN GOD
From yesterday’s Journal concerning, ‘I do believe, help my unbelief’ this thought kept coming to my mind:
It is common to hear someone say, ‘I believe in God.’ I say, ‘So what? Like all heaven and earth should shake and be impressed with that statement? All things remain intact whether we do or do not believe in God, because God believes in God.’
It makes no logical sense or application that a person would spout a statement about believing or not believing in God. If one doesn’t why would that same one need to tell anyone they don’t? It makes little difference to the movement of the universe. The God others may not believe in is busy doing what that God has been doing for a long, long time. One can choose to believe this, or not. It can only change that person…not God.
According to scripture… it is a much better idea to believe because God believes in God. James, an apostle, wrote:
“You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.” (James 2:19 NLT)
I’m headed over to the other side of the Pond to have some Cuban Coffee and Double Chocolate Fudge Cookies to help me process what it might possibly mean to not…’believe in God.’ I may need two cups… and two cookies to get through this.
“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me.” Jesus
