HOPE WITHIN
We should always be prepared, “always be ready to make a defense to every one who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15). The Book of Hebrews says, “This hope we have is as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, where Jesus entered as a forerunner for us” (6:19-20). Our hope rests on the finished work at the cross and not just on how, or when, He may make a re-appearance back to earth. I can’t think of a faster way to perhaps miss Him altogether than by being overly concerned about His return. We must fully grasp the first coming to have a chance of grasping the second. “He saved us, not the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that being justified by His grace we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life” (Titus 3:5-7). It is the ‘hope of eternal life’ that should motivate our thinking and living.
