HOLY GROUND

Macrina Wiederkehr is a Benedictine sister, an author, living in Arkansas and she wrote,

“The ground you stand on is holy.
The ground you are is holy.”

Her play on words is beautiful. “The ground you are is holy.” This is a take away from Genesis 2:7, “The Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.”

What makes a person holy is to be in the presence of God… Holy God. Nothing unholy is ever in the Presence of God. We are made holy by the infilling of the Holy Spirit to become holy for a holy God. Once this has happened ‘the ground we are’ is holy and therefore ‘the ground we stand on’ is holy as well.
