HIDDEN THINGS IIII
There is another Hidden Thing that the Lord Jesus presents as an obvious choice and that is the Kingdom of God. He quotes Psalm 78:2 to his disciples. “I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden since the foundation of the world” (Matthew 13:35). In this chapter of Matthew there are seven parables and two explanations of parables.
In Matthew 13:33 we read of the yeast (leaven) in the flour: “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three pecks of flour until it was all leavened.” It is hidden until it grows and matures in baked loaves. In 13:44, “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” The Kingdom of God is hidden and found and hidden again until we can possess it entirely. Then,13:44-45, “the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.” The Kingdom outshines any other possession we may have because we have ‘the pearl of great price.’
Hidden Things often remain hidden unless we really want to know where and what they are. As concerns the Kingdom of God, Jesus said: “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants (children).”
(Matthew 11:25-26)
Maybe if Hidden Things are too difficult to understand, we should go ask some little kid what’s going on.
“To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.” Jesus
