HEAVY ENOUGH
Jesus made this statement as a comfort to those who would hear it, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
I can confess easily and quickly of the times I have gone to the Lord for rest, to have him take my burden, for someone to lean on, someone to talk to, someone to help me get through stuff. I can also easily say that many times I ‘felt’ or sensed little in the way of comfort and of course other times I have. Even trying to hand off my burden onto his yoke, to learn about him, to sense his gentle and lowly heart can be a real challenge at times.
I have tried often to claim his, “my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” and I do claim it… but even knowing it and believing it… the load is often still heavy enough.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Jesus
