LIKE THE TEACHER
As disciples who daily walk, pray and meditate on the “things of God” (whatever that might mean) are also drawn by faith to become like Jesus. The desire is to become like Jesus and not like Christians because that could be very different and complicated. To be like Jesus is to be like his Kingdom. Living in the Kingdom of God is to live in the righteous rule and reign of the loving Father and King Jesus. It is doing what he did, going where he went and thinking what he thought.
Jesus said, “A disciple (student, pupil, follower) is not greater than his teacher, but everyone when fully trained will be like his teacher.” We are not greater than our King but we are like our King. We are not above our teacher but we are like our teacher.
“The one who is sent as a messenger is not greater than the one who sent him.” Jesus
