GROWTH BY OBEDIENCE

The only true spiritual crops that will be produced are those that are defined and verified by scripture. We may choose methods that are suited to cultural and social significance and that is important but more important is that they are obedient to scripture and especially the teachings of Jesus.

“Your work on behalf of God’s kingdom will be better carried out if you know how he wants you to carry it out, but you will have no way of knowing that, other than by obedience to his word. Submit to it, just like ivy. Ivy cannot live if it does not hold fast to something; you will not grow or live in holiness unless you hold fast to obedience.” Mother Teresa (1910-1997)

I know a lot of ivy can grow wild in me in the name of religion and philosophy without the trellis of the Word to hold it straight and true. Real growth is by submission and obedience.
