GETTING READY

We are now seated, standing, lying, bowing and waiting for the Pentecost experience mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles chapter one and two. We are now in the same position. “They went up to the upper room and were in prayer” and now “when the day of Pentecost had come…” Our wait is the same as their wait and the reward is coming. “Then suddenly from heaven there came a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.”

Now we can get up and go. Now we are ready. Now we have “power from on high, power from heaven” and earthly power has no place here. This is beyond our capabilities. The only expert here is the Holy Spirit. Now we spread out and form little gospel communities of Life and Light. In our small clusters we “continually devote ourselves to the apostle’s teaching, and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” And, “the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.” Things are changing and we are about to go out again and take the Bread of Life to the hungry and love to the lonely and hope to the helpless and healing to the lame. We are starting to go again. It is time. Lord, “clothe us with power from on high” so we will not fall down. We do not have to wait anymore.
