Jon Acuff asks, “Do you have what you need to start your dream?”
One of the things fear loves to tell you is that you don’t have what you need to start a dream.
You don’t have the right skills.
You don’t have the best talents.
You don’t have enough time.
You don’t have enough money.
You don’t have the best tools.
Fear will present a laundry list of things you must acquire before you start chasing your dream.
Fear is a liar.
You need a lot less than you think to start.
Finishing might take tools, skills and talents that you’ll pick up along the way, but if you don’t start, you’ll never find out what they are.
Waiting until you have what you need to get started is the perfect way to make sure you never do.
The only thing you need is courage. Courage to believe it’s OK to be horrible at first. Courage to look silly. Courage to not let fear win the day.
Tools? We’ll get there. A doctor doesn’t become a doctor on day one. She becomes a student. And then she learns along the way. But not unless she gets started first.
Just start.”
