GENTLE AND QUIET SPIRIT
“Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear—but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.” (Book of 1 Peter 3:3-4)
Some wonderful thoughts to process in these verses:
Our adorning must not all be external.
Our adorning is to be the hidden person of the heart.
We desire imperishable (enduring forever) beauty.
We desire a gentle and quiet spirit.
Being like this… is precious in God’s sight.
Dealing with our interior person is not to totally exclude the exterior. It is also OK to fix our hair, put on decent clothes and look as good as possible. I say, “If the barn needs painting, paint it.”
“You are always making yourselves look good, but God sees what is in your heart. The things that most people think are important are worthless as far as God is concerned.” Jesus
