FOOLS FOR CHRIST’S SAKE
The apostle Paul wrote in his first letter to the Corinthians, “ For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men, we are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute. To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are poorly dressed and buffeted and homeless…” (1 Corinthians 4:9-11)
It is very important to make sure that we are faithful being ‘fools for Christ sake’ and not a fool for religion, or a fool for false teaching, or a fool for false prophets, false church, false ecumenism, false fellowship, or a fool for a denomination, or a fool for a preacher, priest, priestess, philosopher, pundit, poet or prophet.
Or a fool for false exegesis, or a false hermeneutic, false eschatology, or false pneumatology, false Christology, false ecclesiology, false ontology, false existentialism, false transcendentalism, or a lot of other false big and wise sounding words.
“See that no one leads you astray. Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and they will lead many astray. And then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect. But be on guard; I have told you all things beforehand.” Jesus
