FINAL AUTHORITY
Resisting authority has become a defined part of our culture. We seem to be a generation that has decided on resistance as the normal way to approach authority over our lives. For Christians this means a lot of contradiction. Not just for Spiritual authority from leadership and from brothers and sisters in Christ… but especially from Father. We simply must not keep resisting Father’s authority over us. He is our Government.
Here’s the basis for contradiction: Christians are ruled and directed by God’s Word: the Bible and by the inner working of the Holy Spirit in the conscience. From God’s base of authority we should make our decisions. We are under no compulsion to make decisions from the rules and directions of our culture and society.
The national political parties, government officials, and federal law often tell us how to approach, determine and live out matters of morality and ethics based on an atheistic world view, not a Kingdom world view. Christians don’t need a Supreme Court decision to know right from wrong, good from evil, but we do need God’s Word and Holy Spirit. We should carefully judge world opinion; what we see and hear. But, God’s opinion, His authority cannot be resisted, or ignored, or judged. It must be obeyed and it is not a burdensome obedience. It is true liberty, justice and freedom. It is Final Authority.
