FELLOWSHIP OF THE SUPPER
The fellowship of the Supper is a special time and action in the heart of the believer. We are looking for those who want to share our bread and wine. From this wine and bread comes fellowship of the Supper and in turn the fellowship and community of life with friends. I am a friend if I have someone with whom to share my bread and wine. My bread is the substance I have, what I have learned and experienced, what I carry within me and what I can share and give away to you. My wine is the revelation I have, what I have seen, heard and know, and what I can pour out and serve to you. The highest level of this sharing is with friends. Others can partake and observe, but friends can consume it and be mutually blessed and fortified.
Jesus, thank you for being my friend. Thank you for my other friends who make your love and existence real and verifiable to me. Thank you for allowing grace to consume us while gathered around the Table.
“With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” Then he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” Likewise he also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you.” Jesus
