FELLOWSHIP OF LIGHT AND TRUTH
Fellowship consists of Light and Truth in God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit and in our relationship with each other. We cannot belong to one and not to the others. John, an apostle, concludes in 1 John 4:20-21, ‘If someone says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a lair, for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this is the commandment we have from him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.”
It is therefore not that God is only ‘in us’ in nature, but he is in us in Jesus Christ, by Self-revelation and impartation on His part, and by faith on our part. We have complete fellowship, complete belonging. This expresses more than sharing something with God. What we share with Him is His presence and personality; when we have truth and love and righteousness or goodness, we have God. We have light. We have truth. Our association and communion evidently expresses something with God and with one another that is surely of the Spirit. The two are no longer two, but they have become one. This is a belonging that by its nature requires faith and confidence beyond our own ability. Only the Holy Spirit can do such a thing.
Jesus, I belong to you and I belong to my brothers and sisters ‘who walk in the light as you are in the light.’
“The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.” Jesus
