FATHER’S DISPOSITION
Love, or goodness, is to will good for others, willing for all to know, possess, experience and enjoy what we have ourselves. It is part of this disposition to share with others the good that the Father has shared with us. The very nature of God, or of love, is to give good life to all things and all people. The Father has given Jesus Christ in the flesh so that each one can know personally the fullness of the Father by becoming a ‘son’ just like the Son.
The Father is love and Jesus Christ is grace. Grace is love applied, or love in operation and effect. The object of love is the Father and the subject of love is man. Jesus Christ has brought us the ability to relate to such wonder. He brings us life and salvation only as we understand the coming of the Holy Spirit to bring us to Him. Jesus, by His Spirit, brings us into fellowship with the Father so we can share His Spirit and His fellowship, His life and His nature, His goodness, His holiness, His love and light. Jesus is all that God has to give and He is all that we can receive.
Only as we taste and step into the mystery of the grace of Jesus can we receive the love and goodness of the Father. Therefore, it is only from God the Father, through God the Son and by God the Holy Spirit that we can have and know God and be recipients of eternal life. The Father’s Self-revelation is in His Son, Jesus, and the receptivity and appropriation of the Son is the work and communication of the Holy Spirit. Grace is to express the eternal and essential characteristics of the Father. It is His disposition revealed in Jesus Christ.
“That they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” Jesus
