RECIPE # 22 COLD OATMEAL SANDWICHES
Cold Oatmeal Sandwiches are a great old family favorite to have at home or to take to work or school or traveling. After one has Oatmeal and Toast, say for breakfast, you allow the Oatmeal to cool and firm up to make sandwiches.
Ingredients:
One Half-Cup Oats (Quick or Regular)
1 Cup Milk or Water
Dash of Salt
Sugar and Cinnamon to Sprinkle on both hot and cold Oatmeal.
Directions:
Boil the Water or Milk, stir in the Oats. Keep stirring to prevent scorching. Cook about 1 minute for 1 minute Quick Oats (did I really say that) and about 2-3 minutes for regular Oats.
Toast 2 pieces of your favorite Sandwich Bread (needs to be on toast so it won’t be soggy). Put Cold Oatmeal about one forth inch thick on one slice of the toast (when it is cold it is firm and easy to spread). Sprinkle generously with Sugar and Cinnamon. Top with second piece of toast. That’s it!
Pairs well with Cuban Coffee, Iced Tea, Milk or Diet Dr. Pepper.
Covers the food groups of Oatmeal and Bread.
